Oak Ridge Boys Win Dove Award
Jonah, Job and Moses Wins
The Oak Ridge Boys were honored with a Gospel Music Association Dove award. “Jonah, Job and Moses” won Country Recorded Song of the Year. Written by Tia Sillers and Bill Anderson, the song appears on the Oaks' most recent Country CD released by Spring Hill Music. Front Row Seats was produced by Duane Allen and Michael Sykes.
The Oak Ridge Boys were on the road and unable to attend the awards celebration, however, tenor Joe Bonsall shared his thoughts about the song and the award. “We knew we had a very special and unique song in ‘Jonah, Job and Moses’ even before we recorded it for the Front Row Seats project. The song just seemed so relevant to life as it is today in correlation with those powerful men of God from another era.
“We all quite frankly thought the song to be anointed,” Bonsall continued. “When the Dove nomination came I must admit I thought it had a chance to win on the sheer merit of the song, coupled with Duane Allen’s sincere and powerful lead vocal. Now that the GMA has honored the Oaks with another Dove, I am hopeful even more people will hear this song and, in so doing, be drawn closer to God and His power to get us throughjust as he did for Jonah, Job and Moses. How blessed we are that He is the same, yesterday, today and forever!”
Family members, Sabrina Carver, Lauren Sterban and Rusty Golden, accepted the award on the group's behalf. This is the eighth Dove bestowed on the Oaks since 1969.
The Dove Awards is the biggest night of the year for top artists from every style of Gospel music. The Dove is the GMA's highest honor. For additional information about the 38th Annual GMA Dove Awards, log on to the official website at www.doveawards.com.
